Are you a grownup who loves superheroes and Harry Potter? Are you a kid who loves anime and comics? Is Star Wars totally your thing? Do you love to dress up as your favorite pop culture character? No matter who you are or what fandom you belong to, you’re sure to have fun at our free all-day event for lovers of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, games, and more! Costumes are highly encouraged. Strict no-weapons policy. This is an all-ages event. Free. No registration required.

We have many wonderful featured events, including a Princess Tea Party where you get to sing songs, hear a story, and meet the real Princess Ariel; kids can also come to our Lego Robots workshop and learn how to program Lego Mindstorms and Lego Star Wars robots. We’ll also have panels and workshops to learn how to draw, how to create characters, making Harry Potter Jewelry, stunt fighting, character meet and greets, games and crafts all day, geek-themed trivia, and Spiderman VR, plus free giveaways and vendors on site selling their wares. There is something for everyone at this event, and the best part is that it is completely free to attend.

The Lana Ferguson Literary Festival endowment was donated to the library in 2015 to honor the memory of a treasured former children’s librarian, Lana Ferguson, by her family. Their wish for this endowment was to create memorable programming that enriched the lives of children and families. We have hosted best-selling children’s authors as well as a host of other literacy-promoting programming since the creation of the Lana Ferguson Literary Festival in 2015. We continue to use this endowment to encourage the reading and appreciation of the great American art form of comics and related media with our fourth annual Comic Con. The Friends of the Guilford Free Library have also contributed significant monetary support to help make this event fun for all.

This program takes place at the Guilford Free Library (67 Park St. Guilford, CT 06437) on Saturday, October 12th from 10:00am-4:30pm. It is sponsored by the Lana Ferguson Literary Festival and the Friends of the Library and is free and open to all ages (baby to adult). No registration necessary. For questions, call the library at 203-453-8282 or visit us online at http://www.guilfordfreelibrary.org.
